A family favorite event, Little Critters Day, is coming up on April 19! To prepare for this year’s celebration of spring, we wanted to share a bit about the critters that are coming to Fernbank.
A day all about little critters couldn’t be complete without a petting zoo! This year, we’re partnering with Cricket’s Mobile Petting Zoo, which provides baby animals such as pigs, chickens, rabbits, goats and more for people to pet.
Next is AWARE Wildlife, who specializes in saving and rehabilitating injured animals native to Georgia. In the past, they have brought owls, hawks and snakes, the last of which people can touch. They also teach guests about what happens when these animals get hurt and how they can help.
Then there is Papayago Rescue House, a shelter dedicated to saving and rehabilitating abandoned parrots. Papayago brings beautiful birds to Fernbank and teaches guests about their unique characteristics and how to take care of them.
What’s Little Critters Day without some puppies? PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill animal shelter, will be returning with a few adorable puppies up for adoption for people to play with. You can also learn about the process of adopting an animal from PAWS.
Lastly, some of Fernbank’s own animal ambassadors will be making a special appearance twice during the event in our Frances Wood Wilson Foundation Theater! Make sure to stop by at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to learn about these critters.
