Investigation: Ecology (outdoor)
How do organisms survive and relate to one another in Georgia Piedmont forests? Students will explore habitats and participate in inquiry-based activities in this outdoor program to discover the unique and important roles different plants and animals play in Piedmont forests. Students will study adaptations, survey for animal signs and construct a “web of life” model of a forest ecosystem.
Investigation: Geology
Get hands-on experience in the field of geology! Students will explore the processes which form rocks, minerals and Earth’s landscapes in this station-rotation investigation program. Inquiry-based activities will engage students with the science and natural history of Earth’s incredible features.
Investigation: Zoology
Explore the tree of life in this mystery organism investigation. In this station-rotation program, students will be assigned a “mystery animal” and will answer questions about the organism at each station to discover its identity. Students will examine significant adaptations which define and classify groups of organisms and will identify where their “mystery animal” fits in the evolutionary tree based on the adaptations which help it survive.
