Fernbank’s volunteer program is an opportunity for adults of all ages to be directly involved in museum operations, interpretation and more. Adult volunteers must commit to 50 hours of service annually. In order to be eligible, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, complete an application, attend a required orientation and training session and submit to a background check.

Ensure that each guest feels welcome and has the best experience possible. In these roles, volunteers orient guests to the museum and provide a friendly face to answer any questions.
Available Roles: Lobby Ambassador, Museum Store Volunteer, and Special Events Volunteer.
Engaging and inspiring guests of all ages to learn about our exhibits and collections. Additional training is required for these opportunities.
Available Roles: A Walk Through Time in Georgia, Fantastic Forces, STEAM Lab, Fernbank on the GO! Outreach, and Interpretive Carts.
Many additional opportunities for adult volunteers are available, including behind-the-scenes opportunities. Additional training may be required.
Available Roles: Live Animal Care, Program Support, Forest Restoration, and Exhibit Preparation.
