Award-Winning Nighttime Experience, “WildWoods: AGLOW,” Returns to Fernbank Museum for Third Season on Nov. 8
(Sept. 13, 2024) Atlanta, GA— Returning for an exciting third season of after-hours adventure, “WildWoods: AGLOW” is set to open on Nov. 8, 2024. Visitors can head outside to explore the wonders of nature in a zen-like, magical nighttime atmosphere through a stunning combination of glowing displays, curated soundscapes and impressive projections, all designed to showcase the native flora and fauna of WildWoods. New in the 2024 season, attendees can also enjoy a giant screen film and all three floors of after-hours, indoor exhibit experiences that are educational, engaging and immersive.
“WildWoods: AGLOW” is a multi-sensory nighttime experience that invites guests into a mesmerizing, exploratory outdoor walk, where they can connect with nature under the cover of darkness and discover the stories of connectivity, pollination and nocturnal activities. Visitors can wander the paths of WildWoods among towering, artistically illuminated sculptures, glowing projections and original musical compositions. Highlights include an interactive tulip poplar pod; projections of nocturnal wildlife and native plant species; larger-than-life incandescent mushrooms and more. New for season three, artistic sculptures have been placed alongside the boardwalk in WildWoods: AGLOW, including glowing dandelions, fluttering dragonflies, a swarm of bats, garden light towers and more.
“We want to give our guests an opportunity to connect with the hidden surprises of the nocturnal world,” said Sarah Arnold, Director of Education for Fernbank Museum. “So many of the species featured in the experience are either nocturnal or very reclusive, so we don’t get to see them often.”
As part of the extended museum hours during “WildWoods: AGLOW,” guests can also enjoy access to the special exhibits, “Armored Animals” through Jan. 5, 2025, “Winter Wonderland” from Nov. 23, 2024 – Jan. 12, 2025, and “Ultimate Dinosaurs” starting Feb. 8, 2025. Special member pricing is available, along with opportunities for adult-only (21+) or all-ages nights. A selection of food and drinks, including a bar for those 21+, will also be available in the AGLOW Lounge
As part of the experience, the museum will also be showing the film, “Flight of the Butterflies” — a captivating story about the monarch butterfly’s migration across a continent.
“WildWoods: AGLOW” is a limited-run nighttime experience offered on select evenings from Nov. 8, 2024, through Feb. 23, 2025, for all ages and abilities, except for when “WildWoods: AGLOW” coincides with Fernbank After Dark, an adults-only event on the second Friday night of each month.
